Fincantieri: Timelapse launch of Rotterdam, the fleet's new Flagship
TIMELAPSE LAB is back in Marghera, tasked with filming, with two TL8 devices, the launch of the “Rotterdam”, a new ship destined for Holland America Line, brand of Carnival Corporation & plc group, the world’s leading cruise operator. The interior design phase will begin now, leading to the delivery of the ship in summer 2021.
The new unit, sister ship of “Koningsdam” and “Nieuw Statendam”, ships of the “Pinnacle” class delivered respectively in 2016 and 2018 by the same shipyard, is the fourteenth ship built by the Marghera shipyard for this brand. She will have a gross tonnage of approximately 99,800 tonnes, a length of almost 300 m and will be able to accommodate 2,668 passengers on board in 1,340 cabins. The “Rotterdam” will be characterised by a modern and contemporary style, in line with the traditional elegance which distinguishes all the brand’s ships. As with her sister ships, the design will be carried out by two of the world’s largest and most prestigious architectural firms, Tihany Design and Yran & Storbraaten, who have drawn inspiration from the architecture of music for the deisgn of numerous public areas.
The ship’s design will be oriented towards optimising energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact, while meeting the most stringent and curent safety regulations.
